Roulette is one of most popular casino games in the world, both online and in real life. This is primarily because roulette is one of the simplest games to show up at a table and start playing, but that doesn’t there isn’t depth to the game.
The essence of roulette is relatively simple you just have to guess what number the ball will land on in the wheel, and then bet on that number. Every number also has a color, red or black, except for the 0 and 00. Of course, unless you’re a member of a casino heist, there’s no way to predict where the ball is going to land, though there is some fun in trying to make patterns and guesses.
The complexity comes in with all the different ways to bet on multiple numbers. You can bet on one, two, three, even up to half the numbers on the board. Once you learn the types of bets and the simple roulette rules, you can play, and talk, roulette online with the best of them.
Types of Bets
Straight Up Bet - A bet on a single number, even 0 or 00, that pays out 35 to 1.
Split Bet -A bet on two adjacent numbers on the table that pays out 17 to 1.
Street Bet -A bet on a three-number row, called a ‘street’, which pays out 11 to 1.
Corner Bet - The corner bet, or square bet as it is sometimes called, is made by placing chips at the intersection of four numbers. It pays 8 to 1.
Five Bet -This is a bet on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3 for 6 to 1 odds. The Five Bet has the worst odds of any bet on the roulette table, and is often called the ‘Sucker’s Bet’
Line Bet -A line bet is two street bets made at the same time, by placing chips on the line that runs between the two streets. It pays out 5 to 1.
Dozen Bet -There are no convenient ways to bet on 7-11 numbers on the roulette board. A dozen bet covers one of three sets of a dozen consecutive numbers 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36. It has 2 to 1 odds.
Column Bet -The Column Bet also bets on 12 numbers, but in a vertical column. This bet also pays out at 2 to 1.
Red/Black, Even/Odd and High/Low –Red/Black, Even/Odd and High/Low are all even money bets, covering half the numbers on the board (except for the 0 or 00). Red/Black and Even/Odd should be self explanatory. Low pays out on 1-18, high pays out on 19-36.
